Pre-Launch Card Testing
Mandatory internal testing of plastic and virtual cards before card ordering opens to end users.
Overview
Before physical and virtual card ordering opens to end users, a mandatory internal testing phase confirms that the card program operates correctly across all core card functionality.
Testing is conducted by the partner's QA team after Wirex completes the production and configuration prerequisites.
Preconditions
Testing may begin only once all of the following are satisfied:
| Precondition | Owner |
|---|---|
| Virtual card design approved by Visa | Visa |
| Plastic card design approved and confirmed for production | Visa, Partner |
| Production batch manufactured and physically available in stock | TAG Systems |
| Card management configuration completed | Wirex |
| Card ordering configuration completed | Wirex |
| Delivery fee configuration completed | Wirex |
Wirex requires approximately 3–5 business days after production confirmation to complete the configuration steps. Once Wirex confirms setup is complete, cards become technically available for ordering in the system and testing may begin.
Test Group Setup
Testing is performed internally by the partner before public launch.
- The partner provides Wirex with a list of designated test users.
- Wirex enables card ordering for those specific users.
- The partner's QA team executes the test scenarios.
Up to five test participants are recommended to give sufficient scenario coverage. The final number is at the partner's discretion.
Recommended Scenarios
| Scenario | Confirms |
|---|---|
| Card ordering | Ordering flow, pricing, and delivery fee behaviour |
| Card activation | Activation of the delivered plastic card |
| POS transactions | In-store payments |
| eCommerce transactions | Online payments and 3DS |
| ATM withdrawal | Cash withdrawal |
| Notifications | Transaction and status notifications reach the user |
| Balance validation | Balances and transaction history reconcile |
Allow approximately 1.5 weeks for this stage, including card delivery.
Go-Live Confirmation
Once all scenarios are complete, the partner prepares a testing completion confirmation report stating that:
- All required test scenarios have been executed.
- No critical issues affecting card functionality remain unresolved.
- The card program is ready for public launch.
The partner then:
- Notifies the Wirex Account Manager.
- Notifies the Wirex Technical Support team.
- Confirms readiness to open card ordering to end users in the agreed launch geography.
Public Card Ordering
Public card ordering is enabled only after Wirex receives formal confirmation that testing completed successfully. Ordering is then opened to end users according to the agreed launch scope and geographic availability.
Go-live follows on the next day. If that day is a Friday, launch is scheduled for the following Monday. See Co-Brand Launch Journey.
